Synvisc G-F 20 gel is based on biological substance derived from chicken combs. Hylan GF 20 is a compound polymer of the long-chain type that contains disaccharide units of N-acetylglucosamine. Synvisc is intended for the treatment of pain syndromes during osteoarthritis of the patient’s knee.

How to enter a Synvisc?

Synvisc is injected into the knee at 1 injection every 7 days. The course of treatment includes 3 injections. Do not reuse the syringe or insert the product if its packaging is damaged. The fluid is injected with a needle 18-20 in size. Only 2 milligrams can be injected into one knee, do not increase the dose as it will cause a fluid overflow.

What can be the side effects after Synvisc injection?

Knee pain, swelling, redness may occur after the injection, but these symptoms should disappear in 3 days. If you experience more pain, dizziness, and nausea, you have to consult a specialist. Before making the injection, the site should be decontaminated, but agents that do not contain ammonium salt should be selected. Do not enter the product in vessels or veins. The product is for the knee joint only. Do not use injections if the patient is sensitive to the product. Carefully enter the result if the patient has problems with blood clotting. Do not use the product during pregnancy, lactation. Persons under 21 years of age also can’t use Synvisc.
